How to find Your True Authentic Voice.
Today I would like to talk about a profound mindfulness…. !!!
A tangible, useful one!
Stop and think!
“What?….what do you mean”? I hear you ask.
What’s the connection between……..Think? And authentic voice?
It’s actually the No. 1 importance for singers.
Let me explain –
You see, this connects directly with the heart and soul of you; the authentic you!
Singing in a mindful way ultimately means making changes that really work….to your vocal struggles AFTER finding the bottom-line cause.
How?
Normally to stop an unwanted consequence e.g. stop your voice croaking….
1. Draw up a list you can replace it with, decide which to use, and replace it.
2. The more you repeat this, the more it becomes entrenched.
For me, the problem here is….strong chance it’s replacing one habit with another or worse, resorting to surgery!
HOWEVER – not getting to the real cause.
Habits lack your own unique authentic solution…they are pre-selected actions
THEY MAY HELP
THEY MAY NOT!!
If they don’t…….What might be at risk in future?
There’s Adele, she has great appeal, which she does very well. But after years of the wrong ‘how to’ her voice finally collapsed under the strain of incorrectly using it.
She chose surgery to fix it.
If something was not right with how she sang, what changes after surgery. Her throat might be fixed, but she sings with the same fault she had before.
Without realizing it, her habit will remain.
Is this really the answer? The only option?
How many wonderful singers have lost confidence in themselves and stopped singing because they ‘fixed’ with the wrong solution?
Here’s the thing……
There is a moment needed between ‘DIAGNOSIS’ and ‘SOLUTION’!
I call it ‘THE SIGNIFICANT PAUSE’!
True mindfulness. A quiet, ‘nothing’ happening moment.
Beneath the habits, there is a natural, hugely effective way, to help your voice.
When the mind is open to all solutions……
The voice is not just the throat.
Wait!
What is the real problem?
Is it a hidden habit?
If you say ‘no’ to the habit, wait!….getting out of your own way……
However, trust is the greatest component here.
Your SELF knows deep down!
…….Knows deep down if the habit is a clenched neck, or a mind stuck in a self belief, a mis-conceived instruction, or a habit from childhood! The list is endless.
Learn your inner self.
Create more ‘space’ for the inner voice!
